10. Reflection

The most challenging moment is that I wrote an incorrect topic on Paper 2 and needed to rewrite it. I didn’t understand the requirements clearly before I started to write the essay, so I chose the topic I was interested in instead of the topic the professor gave to us. I felt so frustrated when I got the comment from Ms. Lee, but the growth mindset helped me to shift my emotion in a short time. Definitely, it’s a big mistake and I wasted time and effort to write it, but I got an opportunity to practice and write an extra essay, so it’s not bad. As a result, the first advice for future AmLa 80 students is figuring out the requirements clearly before writing essays or doing things, and the second advice is we should view making mistakes as learning opportunities. If I asked Ms. Lee in class for the topic and confirmed again, then I shouldn’t have made such a mistake. Therefore, my third advice is don’t be ashamed to ask questions.
